Dr. Wood’s Bio
Dr. Gavin C. A. Wood, born in Scotland and educated there, graduated from Medical School in 1995 in Aberdeen, MBChB. He did Basic Surgical Training in Scotland until beginning Orthopaedic Speciality training in Manchester UK in 2002.
Having obtained FRCS Orth qualification in 2006 he progressed to two years of specialist orthopaedic Fellowship training. He spent 1 year in London, Ontario at Western in Arthroplasty and Joint reconstruction, this was followed by a 6 month arthroplasty and rheumatoid fellowship at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in Scotland and 6 months at Chorley Lancs in the UK in Sports and Arthroplasty.
Having completed all training and fellowships in 2008 he commenced his first Consultant position at Queens University and Kingston General Hospital in Oct 2008. He is now an established Arthroplasty and Reconstruction surgeon who has a young adult hip interest with joint preserving surgery and Hip Arthroscopy. Dr. Wood participates in Trauma services and is active in developing patient care and services within the hospital and sits on committees as well as being actively involved with Queens University and ongoing Research within the field of Orthopaedics.
His achievements are being recognized as an expert in his field, as well as being asked to speak at national meetings.
