Meet Dr. Wood

Welcome to my site which I encourage all to explore, use and interact with. I developed this site as an adjunct to my practice which has grown since my appointment. My experience with patients and medical professionals has made me realize the importance of communication and sharing of information. Patients and other health care professionals alike want the best healthcare available and I believe through collaboration, shared information and communication as a team, with the patient at the centre, interactions and outcomes will be more positive. I have a firm belief in the traditional doctor-patient relationship and sound clinical practice and that with the use and adaptation of modern technology that healthcare can be enhanced.

Dr. G.C.A. Wood, is the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston, Ontario. Academic appointment at Queens University as Associate  Professor. Appointed to his position October 2008, his interests and specialties are in lower limb arthroplasty, reconstruction and young adult hip pathology with an established and growing practice and reputation. Our Office

Dr. Wood and his administrative staff are based at Kingston General Hospital. The office is staffed full-time Mon-Fri 8.30am-4.30pm. A 24 hour telephone answering service is available, fax and email facility is also available. Any emergency at the weekend or out of hours, that can’t wait until the next working day, we recommend attending KGH Emergency Department where Orthopaedic on call is available 24 hrs a day.

We are a staff of medical professionals, ready to do whatever it takes to get you back on your feet as quickly as possible.

The team goes beyond those mentioned and includes many Orthopaedic staff on Kidd 6 at Kingston General Hospital where most in-patient procedures are carried out. 

The Hotel Dieu Hospital site is the main ambulatory care surgery and out patient facility and is home to our clinic on Johnson 7 with cast technicians, physiotherapy nurses and consulting rooms. It also provides in-patient care for joint replacement surgery with a gym and team of nurses, physios and other therapists.
